Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has finally made its way to the iOS App Store. It’s been re-mastered for both touch and wide screen. For those of you who remember Sonic 2, this is the game where Sonic meets his friend Tails for the first time. In this re-mastered game we also get to explore never seen before levels with improved graphics. You can find Sonic 2 in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
Spotify made waves yesterday, when it announced that the service was going free on all devices. Of course all good news comes with a catch. Here’s the quick breakdown:
Spotify is now free on tablets and operates pretty much just as it does on desktop’s. You can have full access to your playlists and even create new one’s. The catch comes from smartphones, Spotify is free on all smartphones and you can now access your playlist and build new one’s much like tablets and desktops, however you can only listen to them in “Shuffle” mode. All of this, is a huge move in the right direction. However, my big complaint is still “off-line” mode. This mode still requires a $9.99 per month premium account. If they would just make “off-line” mode free it would be a bold and revolutionary move that would leave other streaming services scrambling. Spotify also announced that they have brought the entire Led Zeppelin catalog to their already vast library.
Oblivion came out earlier this year, and I wasn’t impressed. Instead, I left the movie wondering why I just wasted my time. Now, Cruise is back with a new Sci-Fi movie that looks, well, worse than Oblivion. “Edge of Tomorrow” is about a man who is stuck in a time loop, having to fight the same fight against invaders over and over again. The movie is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s “All You Need Is Kill”, and also stars Emily Blunt (Looper) and Bill Paxton (Aliens). The movie is expected to hit theater’s next summer.
We see a lot of speculation’s floating around about Apple, almost on a daily basis. These analyst’s are dead on part of the time and completely crazy the other part. This new idea is without a doubt the craziest idea I’ve heard all year. Keith Fitz-Gerald an analyst with Money Map Press gave an interview with Fox Business’ News Stuart Varney and made the strangest prediction ever. He stated that Apple and Microsoft will soon begin working together, and that in the next 5 to 10 years they would merge! Yes, he said they would merge and now my brain hurts.
Apple loves its milestones and so do we. Apple recently hit a new milestone, they now have 1 million live apps in the App Store. This is a big deal for everyone involved, its great for users because, over course, we need a great experience and 1 million apps gives us that. It’s also a big deal considering Apple inspects every single app before it makes its debut. This means Apple has inspected over 1 million apps, that’s a lot of work, to make sure we get the best quality and safest apps as possible. Currently there are 413,000 apps optimized for iPad, this includes both universal apps and iPad exclusive apps. Apple is expected to make a formal announcement soon.
Procreate is the best art app in the App Store hands down! It offers the most robust technical features in the App Store. Create dynamic, realistic digital art that rivals actual photography with this iPad exclusive app.
Are tablets just a fad? Or, are tablets next generation? This has been the big question for a while now. It’s a very complicated question, simply because many people who heavily produce and edit video and audio, just can’t wrap their heads around producing high quality products on an iPad. Well, Apple might be producing a gamer changer…yet again.
If the rumors are true, and in this case they probably are Apple will be introducing a 12.9″ iPad “Pro”. As long as they continue making great improvements to iOS, this tablet could very be the answer many people in the audio video world have been looking for! A true laptop replacement, one that can hand heavy apps with ease.
For main steam iPad users, they have already made their choice. As PC sales continue to decline and tablet sales continue to increase, tablets are the next generation choice for most people’s computing needs. While, Apple still has a way to go with iOS and iPads full capabilities, it’s clear what direction their going. A 12.9″ iPad would be in direct competition with Apple’s own Mac Air, in capabilities, storage, and price. I would even go out on a limb and say that the Mac Air’s days might even be numbered. Once Apple kills off the Mac Air and continues making improvements to iPad we will probably see Apple pit the iPad against the Mac Book Pro. Over time, these traditional ways of computing are going to be a thing of the past. Apple seems to enjoy competing with it self, more than competing with other companies. This is a good thing for everyone in the tech world, as long as everyone continues following suite, as they have now for several years.
Tablets aren’t part of a revolution in the tech industry, instead it’s more of an evolution. Within the next few years were going to consider pc’s as tablets and Mac’s as iPads. Tablets are the next generation, some of you might like it and others might not, however, just like everything else, we will get used to the new way of computing and begin accepting it for what it really is…Forward Thinking.
Google Chrome Apps are coming to iOS and Android as soon as January 2014. Apparently, Google is working on building a toolkit that would allow developers to develop chrome apps across desktop, iOS, and Android. Developers would also be able to port existing Chrome apps over to mobile.
